So my reading is that Presidents are encouraged not to use email because official correspondence as President becomes part of the public record. But this applies to CEOs, too – see Ballmer, Gates and the Microsoft emails. So what's the problem?

It's not that he's not allowed to be close to normality, it's that everything he does is discoverable. Which, if you think about it, is what a lot of us are doing anyway.

An aside: this highlights the problem with the term "ARG" – whether the A is alternative or augmented. MyBO was playful social software.

"Heroes has been something of a poster child for the heavily-hyped convergence culture meme of transmedia storytelling (e.g. Henry Jenkins, Fast Company, Wonderland, etc. etc.), also known as "It's more than just a TV show — it's a comic! And an online ARG! And a video game! And a juicer!" If transmedia storytelling has an "old wine, new bottle" ring to it, the main difference from yesteryear's multimedia adaptations, spin-offs and tie-ins seems to be continuity — that ideally, the pieces all weave together to make a coherent narrative whole. Collect them all!" – misses the point. Heroes' story just hasn't been good enough lately, and the comments bear this out.

"Two things do worry Mr Tapscott. One is the inadequacy of the education system in many countries; while two-thirds of Net Geners will be the smartest generation ever, the other third is failing to achieve its potential. Here the fault is the education, not the internet, which needs to be given a much bigger role in classrooms (real and virtual)."

This is perhaps one of the best examples of "magic bits of technology dropped through a portal into our own time".
