"However, Lyons also questioned the future of content created for online that is not directly related to specific BBC programmes, asking, "where should the boundary be drawn" between this and "the online expression or extension of BBC programming"?" – it's very easy to interpret this as meaning that Lyons thinks the BBC should only be creating online content that is directly related to BBC *television and radio* programmes, in which case kiss goodbye to the BBC innovating in the online space and instead remaining a broadcaster of one->many linear AV. I really, really hope this isn't the case.

Only the BBC could put enough weight behind an open STB platform, and only BSkyB will make sure it doesn't happen. In the meantime, the games consoles will win. Thanks, Murdoch dynasty, I feel like i'm living in an SF dystopia already.

"And I'm finally free to announce that an option on the TV and film rights to "The Atrocity Archives" have been sold to an outfit with an address in Beverley Hills." This or Global Frequency (or both) will do nicely as an intelligent, airing-on-Fox on Friday night and ultimately cancelled critically acclaimed TV show.

"Jeff Strain, creator of Guild Wars and former Blizzard employee, has founded a new company called Undead Labs and begun work on a zombie MMO." New console-only zombie MMO. No one tell Alice.

"The best part about the setup is that the software interface for the cameras has a "Live to Wes" button that will stream the live feed from a particular camera to Wes Anderson for immediate viewing." LIVE TO WES! Love it!

"Self-promotion may appear revolting, but it’s the only promotion that’s guaranteed in this business. Do it right, and only haters will hate you for it. To get, you must give." Similarly, Mr. Webb at BERG recommended to books on sales techniques to me that were actually useful, as opposed to making me vom. Once you realise that there are things you need to do to get the work you want to do – just like there are things you need to do to get the girl you wanted, then it all makes sense.

"Can people diagnosed with depression go to a party and look like they're having fun? Most of us would say yes, but one insurance company thinks not. A woman in Canada got her sick leave coverage pulled after she posted photos of her birthday party to her private, locked-down Facebook account." – another "Smokescreen mission writes itself" moment
